General Aviation - Executive Terminal Nearing Completion

The new General Aviation - Executive Terminal is nearing completion. As of this time an opening date has not been confirmed, but we anticipate that it will be the first part of May. We plan to have an open house so everyone can come out and tour the new facility. We will send out notices to all the FBO's and airport users, so keep an eye out for an invitation.

Airport Projects Update - Check NOTAMS before flying.
  • Terminal Re-roof - This project is nearing completion. After some minor delays we are a little behind schedule, but should be done sometime in April.
  • Entrance Road - The pre-design concept has been approved and we are now working on the design and bidding of this project. We hope to start actual construction sometime this summer.
  • Fire Station - The pre-design concept has been approved and we are now working on the design and bidding phases. Just like the road project, we hope to start construction of this project this summer.
  • ARFF Truck Replacement - We are now working with the FAA on a replacement Airport Rescue and Fire Fighter (ARFF) truck. The new truck will have a greater fire fighting capacity and have the newest features in airport fire rescue.
  • Environmental Assessments - The airport is starting two environmental assessment studies. The first is for a possible runway extension for runway 9/27 and the second is for a new commercial terminal facility. These studies are required by the FAA prior to starting construction on these projects.

New Image and Name - When airport operations staff moves into the new general aviation terminal they will have a new look and the building will have a new name. The uniforms that have been worn for the past 10 years will change and the Airport Authority has chosen to name the building the ATHENS-BEN EPPS FLIGHT CENTER. Along with the uniforms a new logo will be unveiled.

Security Gates - Just a reminder to those having codes to our security gates. Before driving away from the gate, let it close behind you. This will stop unauthorized vehicles from following you through the gates. Thank you.
